Upon completion of module 1, you will be able to:
Define First Aid.
Explain the importance of giving First Aid.
Describe the contents of a typical First Aid Kit.
State the responsibilities of a First Aider.
Upon completion of module 2, you will be able to:
Describe how to approach an incident.
Describe how to inform other to provide assistance.
Summaries of how to identify, prioritize and treat life threatening conditions.
Upon completion of module 3, you will be able to:
Assess the care required by a casualty after life threatening conditions have been stabilized.
Describe why non life-threatening conditions or injuries need to be treated.
Explain what essential information is to be recorded at the scene.
Upon completion of module 4 you will be able to:
- Describe body structure in terms of skeleton
- joints, muscles and tendons.
- major organs (brain, heart, lungs, etc).
- circulatory systems.
- Demonstrate the correct procedure for positioning casualties.
Upon completion of module 5, you will be able to:
- Define unconsciousness.
- Describe the different levels of consciousness.

- Describe appropriate procedures for positioning an unconscious casualty.

- Recognize when to administer CPR.
- Explain how to administer CPR.
- Explain the proper use of an Automatic External Defibrillator.
- State which indicators the First Aider should look for to determine when to stop administering CPR.

- Define what a wound is.
- Describe the different types of wounds,
- State the dangers of bleeding and wounds.
- Explain appropriate care for wounds and bleeding.
- Explain the causes of nose bleeds and appropriate treatment.
- Explain the differences between dressings and bandages.
- Explain the appropriate application of dressings and bandages.
Upon completion of module 8, you will be able to:
- Identify the causes of burns.
- Recognise the extent and nature of burns.
- Explain appropriate care for burns.
Upon completion of module 9, you will be able to:
- Explain how shock develops
- Identify the signs and symptoms of shock.
- Describe the general treatment for shock.
Upon completion of module 10, you will be able to:
- Explain the differences between emergency moves and transfers.
- State proper body mechanics.
- Demonstrate different kinds of emergency moves.
- Identify the correct method of transfer to be used
Upon completion of module 11, you will be able to:
- State the dangers of making entry into enclosed spaces.
- State why the atmosphere in an enclosed space may not be safe to support life.
- State the precautions to take before entering an enclosed space.
- State the dangers of blood and other excretion from person’s suffering from infectious disease such as hepatitis and HIV.
- State the precautions to take for self-protection when providing First Aid to infected persons.
- Describe the correct procedures for disposing of infected blood and other excretions.
