Purpose:
The purpose of this e-learning module is to transfer the required knowledge, that will provide the learner with a thorough understanding of the dangers of enclosed spaces and precautions to take prior to entry when attending a casualty, and the dangers of blood and other bodily fluids from persons suffering from infectious diseases.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this module, you will be able to:
- State the dangers of making entry into enclosed spaces.
- State why the atmosphere in an enclosed space may not be safe to support life.
- State the precautions to take before entering an enclosed space.
- State the dangers of blood and other excretion from person’s suffering from infectious disease such as hepatitis and HIV.
- State the precautions to take for self-protection when providing First Aid to infected persons.
- Describe the correct procedures for disposing of infected blood and other excretions.
