Purpose:
The purpose of this e-learning module is to transfer the required knowledge, that will provide the learner with a thorough understanding of the best practices to follow for the loading and carriage of steel cargoes, with respect to safety, cargo condition and cargo care.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this module, you will be able to:
Describe what an inspection of the condition of steel cargo should involve, and the action to take based on the inspection findings.
Describe best practices for loading operations handling steel.
State the precautions to take during loading operations to ensure tank top and overstowing weight limits are not exceeded.
State actions to take during rain or other adverse weather conditions.
Describe cargo lashing conditions that are not suitable and should not be used.
State what other cargoes must not be loaded in the same hold as steel cargoes.
