Purpose:
The purpose of this e-learning module is to transfer the required knowledge, that will provide the learner with a thorough understanding of the properties of dunnage as well as the use and arrangement of dunnage to protect the ship’s structure, to separate cargo consignments, and for protecting the cargo from damage.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this module, you will be able to:
Describe the principal properties and condition of dunnage that make it suitable for separating steel cargo from the ship’s structure.
Summarize the three basics functions that dunnage performs.
Describe how dunnage is laid in a hold before loading different types of steel cargoes.
Describe how dunnage is placed to ensure that different layers of a stow are solid.
